Today

Crews continue planting the king palms on the 500 block of Castro. We're also pouring concrete near the Twin Peaks Tavern (17th & Castro) and at the driveway next to the Eureka Café (mid 400 block of Castro). Crews are also working on the new traffic signal at 18th & Castro.

Weekend Work

Saturday:  Public Works' contractor is scheduled to work this weekend. The sidewalk flags (squares) being poured this Saturday are some that couldn't be poured before due to remaining work or some that are now being replaced as part of the sidewalk punchlist work. Crews are also scheduled to pour the sidewalk at Harvey's corner (SW corner at 18th & Castro) and the Bank of America corner (SE corner at 18th & Castro).

Sunday:  Staff will be on-site washing the sidewalk that was poured Saturday. This phase of work shouldn't be too disruptive.

Sunday Overnight:  The contractor will use heavy machinery to grind the asphalt from the street along both blocks of Castro (19th  to 17th). The grinding phase will begin at 8pm and will continue into Monday morning. This phase of work may be noisy and we apologize for the disruption.

Monday Overnight:  On this night crews will begin final paving on Castro (19th to 17th) around 8pm. The asphalt being applied this time is thicker than the layer of asphalt applied in advance of Pride 2014. That layer was thinner but needed to be installed to make the road safe. The paving work will continue through the night and into Tuesday morning.

Next Week
Crews will continue installing the leaning rails and the bike racks along Castro. Also scheduled for next week is the installation of the brick band in front of the Castro theater.

We're also planning to start some of the preliminary work (saw-cutting) at Jane Warner Plaza next week.

Let's keep it beautiful and graffiti-free
We need your help in keeping the newly completed work graffiti-free. Sadly, we just installed a leaning rail yesterday afternoon only to discover it had been "tagged" with graffiti by the time staff arrived this morning. If you see graffiti on Castro Street or throughout San Francisco, please call 311 to report it. However, if you see someone in the act of writing/drawing graffiti, please call 911 to report it. We need your help in keeping the Castro beautiful. Thank you for all your help.
